Happy Holidays

Hello there. Right now I am formulating a plan of action for Gleaners Inc.over the January school holidays.

Stay tuned as this Mumma attempts to juggle the bejesus out of her many balls flipping around in the air. 

I know for sure we will be closed from Monday January 7th to Friday January 11th while I chillax down at the Prom.

Waiting for Marco!

 If you have ever visited our shop over the last one and a bit years you may have spotted Xavier the local cat chillin' out the front. Xavier will sit all day on my chair waiting if his owner Marco is walking to Sydney Rd. to run errands. But only if he says STAY! If he forgets, Xavier will follow him down Sydney Rd. and wait outside Safeway like a good pooch!

Xavier keeps me company and generates alot of oohs and aahs from the young ladies. This handsome furry dude must have used up quite a few of his nine lives the way he ambles across  roads in hoony Brunswick!

Tis' the Season

After questioning the appropriate time to put up the Chrissy tree and decos on Facebook, the general consensus was the first  weekend of December.

So a tree was procured from Spotlight and the op-shop ornaments were taken out of storage. Babs is impressed with her unintentional colour co-ordination!

I also found the fairy lights!

On Sunday we took a selection of Gleaners Inc. goodies to Markit @ Fed Square. Here is our colourful stall, Liz hamming it up after WAY too many espressos ( what has happened to my arm?), and the sensible shoes of me and my lovely stall buddy Pleatybunny by Miss FOO (who was uber organized and lent me  hooks, scissors and change!) 
Thanks to Kerry from Luminous Glass Studio for the helping out, and to everyone that came and got a little bit of treasure from our stall!!

A cute couple of A little Vintage dolls have just arrived in store. Hello Nella and Nathan.
Jennie thought Nella seemed to be rolling her eyes at Nathan, but I guessed she was rolling them at me because I'd plonked her in a basket with a boy dolls hand on her bum. Maybe that's why Nathan has a slight smirk on his face!

We are happy here at Gleaners Inc. as a mega load of  fresh Each to Own jewellery has just been unpacked.
I cried a little inside that these babies didn't make it down in time for Markit, ( Australia post delivered it on the Sunday while I was there - ANNOYING!)  but that means lucky Gleaners Inc.customers will have the pick of the bunch!

HOORAY! Our lovely crafty friend Eril from Ruby Jayne (who is the teacosy queen) delivered these pineappley goodies today. I am so taken with the string dispenser that if you don't get in quick it's coming home with me!!

And there's no denying it. Chrissy is just around the corner, so here is our first Lino wreath of the season. They are for sale at Gleaners Inc. and each one will be unique. I love making these and I hope people like them as much as they did last Christmas. xxxLiz

What's New at Gleaners Inc.

 A bunch of Cee-ute Koalas by A Little Vintage. Somebody has to buy this adorable lassie Hazel before I do!

Polly Pratt has custom made us a beautiful Skull print Wendy Dress. Dolores is seen here wearing the dress with Sweet By and By crocheted necklaces, a Betty Jo Sugar Skull brooch and a Sarah Louisa Mexi flower hair clip.

And what else is new? Oh yes! Gleaners Inc. will be having a stall at Markit @ Fed Square again this year. 

Our market table will be jam packed with great Gleaners Inc. goodies....perfect Christmas gifts or presents for no reason at all !!!

Day of the Dead Celebration!

Look at some of the Day of the Dead creations for our exhibition. The show begins on November 2nd and Opening night is Friday November the 9th from 5.30pm. Woohoo!!!!

We had a brilliant time and tip our hats to the organising team who pulled together such a great event!

Finders Keepers

The Finders Keepers Market opens tonight at 6 o'clock. The Gleaners Inc. stall will be BURSTING with cool stuff....bursting I tell ya!.

 I have been madly writing lots of lists...pretty unusual for a girl who NEVER writes lists!
So keep your fingers crossed that it's not pouring rain for bump in and my dream last night that no body turned up is not prophetic!!!

Spring Things

Yay, we are finally experiencing some Spring like weather in Melbourne. Blue skies, light breezes and days in the 20's. I heard through a very reliable source that a cafe is opening right behind the red car. How nice will it be to have people sitting out in the sun under the trees sipping their drip espressos right over the road.

 

 I scored a lovely bunch of floral embroidered table clothes the other day. Perfect for chopping up to adorn the Betty Jo Sugar Skulls.

If this guy lasts long enough he will be a part of our Day of the Dead exhibition starting in November.
The standard of submissions is amazing and we can't wait to fill Gleaners with all the Mexicali colour and skully goodness!

Cosy updates!!!

It's been  miserable weather in Melbourne this week. It's Spring goddam it. But we have kept cosy in the shop and enjoyed lots of visits from lovely customers.
Alas this cute vehicle did not herald the arrival of Gregory Peck offering to dink me and Kerry to the gelati bar a-la Roman holiday. Yes, I know Gregory is no longer with us, we would have been happy with a Gregory Peck look alike!!!

 I don't think I have shared these very cute tea cosies we have in stock. They are all hand made by Eril from Ruby Jayne. Eril can custom make you a cosy, and as you can see, she embraces Australiana like us!

Did you know Gleaners inc. is having another stall at the Finders Keepers Market next Friday and Saturday. Our shop will be closed on Friday afternoon and all of Saturday, but you can snaffle yourself  some very gorgeous early Christmas gifts at the amazing Exhibition Buildings.......so come and say hello!!!
